This article reviews developments announced at Google's NewFront in April 2024 for Display & Video 360 (DV360). It is a historical overview of buying and audience tools, not a statement that every announced feature is available to every advertiser today.

DV360 and Google Ads are distinct product names. The buying and audience announcements discussed below concern DV360; they should not be described interchangeably as features of Google Ads.

The 2024 Announcement

Google's April 29, 2024 announcement described tools intended to simplify streaming media buying, manage commitments and support audience selection.

The details matter. Some capabilities were described as available at the time, others as being tested or planned for a later launch. An announcement of a feature is not evidence of its use by ATD Partners.

DV360 Buying Tools

FeaturePlatformWhat Google described in April 2024
Instant dealsDisplay & Video 360A way to configure deals in the platform interface. The announcement described existing availability for high-impact reservation YouTube placements, with further options and publisher expansion planned.
Commitment optimizerDisplay & Video 360A tool built with agency partners to manage media commitments by using deal terms and goals to optimize a mix of guaranteed and non-guaranteed inventory. Google described agency testing.

Both descriptions come from the 2024 primary announcement. Neither establishes a current inventory commitment, a particular commercial agreement or ATD Partners' access.

Audience and Identity Tools

Audience persona: Google announced a generative-AI-assisted feature for proposing audience segment combinations from an advertiser's description. The announcement said it would launch that summer, initially using Google audience and demographic segments, with advertisers able to edit the selection.

Publisher Advertiser Identity Reconciliation (PAIR): Google described reconciling advertiser and publisher first-party data and contributing the protocol to the IAB Tech Lab as part of work toward open standards. That description concerns a data-reconciliation approach; it is not a blanket certification of privacy compliance or permission to use any dataset.

These are separate concepts. A tool that suggests segment combinations is not the same as a protocol that reconciles first-party data, and neither establishes an agency's audience-research capabilities.

Availability and Practical Limitations

The announcement supports a discussion of what Google said in 2024. It does not establish current account eligibility, inventory, supported markets or terms. Those details need current product and commercial confirmation before a plan depends on them.

Buying tools can help organize a workflow, but their existence does not guarantee reach, engagement or return on ad spend. Evaluate the campaign objective and measurement approach separately.
